Feed Your Passion – Your Snowmobile Adventures Await You

Winter is a fact of life. It’s going to show up every year whether we like it or not, so you can either hide inside like a hermit for those months or head outside and enjoy it.

One of the best ways to enjoy winter is ripping through the snow on your snowmobile. Ask anyone that owns one; they’ll tell you there’s nothing like it.

Think you’d like to join the ranks of the snowmobiling aficionado? The first thing you’ll need is a snowmobile. Whether you’re looking at buying new or just new-to-you, there are a few things to consider once you start shopping.

Where do you want to go:
You need to figure out what sort of riding you’d like. Depending on where you will want to travel through the snow will impact what type of sled you want. Will you stick to designated trails? Maybe venture out into the untamed wilderness? Or do you want to take the sled up a mountain? There are various styles of snowmobiles, depending on what you’re going to use them for, so take the time to explore what type of sledding you will be participating in.

Do your research:
There are many brands, and each has its pros and cons. Investigate the sled you think you want by checking out online reviews or going the more old-fashioned route and getting word-of-mouth feedback from actual snowmobilers. They can tell you how the sled runs from their own experience. They can also let you know any issues they’ve had with the sled, which is always good to know in advance.

New or used: You’ll need to decide if you want a brand new, never-ridden, shiny sled or a gently used, broken-in, maybe-not-so-shiny sled. There’s no wrong answer; it depends on what you’re looking for. New sleds from a dealership can come with a warranty, which is excellent if things go sideways and you need repairs or other maintenance. On the other hand, used snowmobiles aren’t as costly, and if you’re getting into snowmobiling, unsure if it’s for you, you might be more comfortable with that route.

Stick to your budget: Once you decide how much you’re willing to spend on a sled, stick to that price point. As tempting as adding all the cool bells and whistles, those things add up in extra costs. Plus, you don’t want to have a substantial monthly payment hanging over your head if anything changes your financial situation.
